Holland America Line has promoted Rob Boksem to vice president, technical operations. He will report to Dan Grausz, senior vice president, fleet operations.

Rob Boksem now provides overall management and direction for Holland America Line’s technical fleet activities. He is responsible for ensuring that the physical plants on the fleet run safely and efficiently, including scheduled drydocks, on-going maintenance, mechanical and interior upkeep and enhancements, technical purchasing, fuel savings programs and the environmental infrastructure of our ships.

“As director of our technical operations department for nearly five years, Rob has earned this promotion with his innovations and fiscal discipline,” said Dan Grausz, senior vice president, fleet operations. “He has significantly improved both operations systems and communications between the ships and with the Seattle office. I look forward to his further innovations and leadership in technical operations.”

A native of the Netherlands, Rob Boksem joined Holland America Line aboard ships as electrical engineer in 1978 and became chief electrician in 1980. In 1990 he was project manager, new builds, for ms Statendam, ms Maasdam and ms Ryndam in Italy. He moved to Seattle in 1994 as electrical superintendent and became deputy director of technical operations in 2001. He was promoted to director in 2006.

Rob Boksem earned an MBA in the Executive Development Program at University of Washington in 2006.
