New Fast Rescue Boats Training Course

Cap Sante International and the British Columbia Institute of Technology have teamed up to offer a new training course to satisfy international requirements with regards to proficiency in fast rescue boats, starting March 29.  Cap Sante is a service provider of lifeboat products, training and services, and the BCIT is a high quality course provider preparing students for careers at sea.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed by the organizations which shall be followed by a formal agreement.

The multi-year agreement will combine Cap Sante’s expertise with BCIT’s maritime education capabilities to create a powerful and innovative training platform to be conducted at the BCIT marine Campus in North Vancouver.

British Columbia Institute of Technology’s Capt John A Clarkson, master mariner and associate dean said: “To reach our goal of improving the nation’s maritime workforce, it is critical that the BCIT work closely with other educational institutions. By partnering with Cap Sante International, BCIT is having a definitive impact on the educational opportunities available to all students and improving the education process for all involved.”

We are very pleased to extend our partnership to jointly develop a strong and innovative proficiency in fast rescue boat program to address the next-generation needs of our Canadian mariners,” said Richard Wright, CEO of Cap Sante International. “CSI is best-in-class when it comes to lifeboat and rescue boat technology which enables us to offer highly-differentiated instruction and services. We look forward to a fruitful and long-term relationship.”

By 2015, a worldwide shortage of ships’ officers is forecast to reach 27,000. Canada as a maritime nation with the longest coastline of any country in the world will have plenty of opportunities for new mariners in offshore oil, commercial and cruise businesses.

Classes begin March 29. For more information visit: www.capsanteintl.com; www.bcit.ca; or Call 604-453-4111
