Aruba Reports Record 861,447 Cruise Visitors in 2009

Aruba has reported a record 861,477 cruise visitors for 2009, counting both passengers and crew, for an 8.1 percent increase from 791,556 in 2008, according to Kathleen Rojer, executive director of the marketing & international relations for Directie Aruba Cruise Tourism.

As for cruise passengers only, Aruba reported 606,768 in 2009 compared to 556,090 in 2008, for a year-over-year increase of 8.3 percent.

Oranjestad received a total of 327 ship calls in 2009.

The top producing cruise lines were: Royal Caribbean International with 198,618 passengers; Princess cruises with 164,298 passengers; and Holland America Line with 85,814 passengers in 2009.

The top producing ships were: the Adventure of the Seas with 112,192 passengers; the Enchantment of the Seas with 51,446 passengers; and Ocean Dream with 43,487 passengers.

Royal Caribbean made 71 calls, Princess Cruises 70 calls, and Pullmantur Cruises 52 calls.

The most frequent callers among ships were the Ocean Dream with 52 calls; the Adventure of the Seas, 33 calls; and the Enchantment of the Seas with 21 calls.
