Carnival Names Hunn – SVP Maritime Policy & Compliance; Muth – VP Risk Advisory

James Hunn has been promoted to senior vice president – maritime policy & compliance and Richard Muth to vice president – risk advisory services at Miami-based Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest cruise vacation group.

Hunn joined Carnival Corporation & plc in May 2002 as vice president – environmental compliance after a 32-year engineering career in the U.S. Navy, achieving the rank of captain.  He initially led the effort to organize Carnival’s environmental processes on a corporate-wide basis.  In March 2006, Hunn was tasked with heading the newly formed maritime policy and compliance department, where he continues to work with Carnival’s various operating units to establish maritime policy standards while overseeing the company’s health, environmental, safety, and security compliance.

A resident of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Hunn earned his MBA from Auburn University and a master’s in mechanical engineering from U.S. Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Calif.   He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering and the American Society of Naval Engineering.

Muth began his Carnival career as a senior audit consultant for the company’s Holland America Line unit in 1990 and moved to the Miami corporate offices in 1995 when he was named director in the corporate audit services department.

Most recently, Muth oversaw the implementation of the company’s Enterprise Risk Management program, which involves coordination with various levels of management to assess key risks facing the company and reporting to the corporation’s senior management and its board of directors on the current status of mitigation efforts and potential areas of enhancement.

A resident of Hollywood, Fla., Muth earned his bachelor’s in business from the University of Washington.

“Jim and Rick have made outstanding contributions in their respective areas at Carnival and their hard work, innovation and dedication are tremendous assets to our company,” said Howard Frank, Carnival Corporation & plc’s vice chairman and chief operating officer.
