New Base Port for Mein Schiff in the Dominican Republic

In this current Caribbean season TUI Cruises will be starting its seven-day cruises with immediate effect from the port of La Ro-mana, Dominican Republic. The port of La Romana will replace Santo Domingo, likewise in the Dominican Republic, as the port of departure and arrival of “Mein Schiff“. The charter flights too will start on 27th November in future fly directly to La Romana so that the change of the base port will not result in any organisa-tional complications for guests.

“During the first tour on last Friday we found that the conditions were not as good as they could have been in Santo Domingo for the passenger change-over,“ said Richard J. Vogel, chief executive of TUI Cruises. “To ensure that the changeover goes off smoothly we have decided to do this with immediate effect in the nearby port of La Romana.“

Up until March 2010 La Romana will be the departure and arrival port on the seven-day cruise schedule with “Mein Schiff“. The town is about a 90-minute drive away from Santo Domingo. The popular port offers very good conditions. The airport is only about a 20-minute drive from the port and guests can take advantage of a port check-in. No other changes to the cruise schedule will result from the switch to the new port of departure. TUI Cruises is a joint venture of TUI AG and the American cruise
