Other returning visitors include Polar Star Expeditions' with the Polar Star, Holland America Line with the Maasdam and the Eurodam and Princess Cruises' with the Crown Princess and the Ocean Princess.. The Spirit of Oceanus is scheduled to call to St. John's, Cape St. Mary's, L'Anse aux Meadows and Gros Morne National Park. The Poesia is scheduled to call into Corner Brook as part of their inaugural Canada/New England season.
In other news, Cruise NL has joined forces with four other destinations to cooperate in a bid to position the North Atlantic as a cruise region. The partners in this strategic alliance are Newfoundland & Labrador, Greenland, Reykjavík/Iceland, Tórshavn/Faroe Islands and the Orkney Islands and are collaborating under the brand name Cruise Islands of the North Atlantic – Take LIFE to a Higher Latitude. The brand is the next step in a process that officially began with the signing of a memorandum of understanding in March 2007.
According to a prepared statement, the North Atlantic destinations see themselves as partners of the cruise companies with international operations and aim to support them in their marketing and sales activities. The cornerstone of these activities is the newly launched web portal for the alliance - CruiseNorthAtlantic.com . Visitors to the portal will find links to destination information, the destination video and brochure.
Cruise NL has also announced that the next Exploration Cruise Forum will be held from Wednesday, October 27 to Friday, October 29, 2010 in St. Johns. Corner Brook hosted the event in 2008.
