Antigua and Barbuda Project Good Winter Season

The upcoming Winter cruise ship season is looking very good for Antigua and Barbuda with more than 360 ships booked, up 60 from last year, according to the Antigua Pier Group. That translates to approximately 680, 000 passengers for 2009-2010 if all goes well

Royal Caribbean will be making 56 calls versus 49 last year, Carnival is expected to make 50 calls as opposed to 45 last year while, and Costa Cruises is scheduled to make 23 calls, 2 more than last year.

Significant for the new season will be 25 calls from Celebrity Cruise Lines’ two ships, the Celebrity Summit and the Celebrity Mercury, which carry approximately 2,000 passengers each.

A new German ship, Mein Schiff, will be introduced to Antigua for the upcoming season, making approximately 14 calls, and another new brand, Blue Cross, to be launched by P&O Cruises, will be making 11 calls.

MSC Cruises, will be introducing two of their newest vessels Poesia and Magnifica to Antigua, the Carnival Dream will be making its inaugural call on December 6, and Princess Cruises – the Ruby Princess and the Royal Princess will be calling for the first time on December 23 and January 13 respectively. Royal will make just one call, while Ruby will make a total of 5 calls.
