Last evening, at approximately 11 p.m. (CDT) while the Carnival cruise ship Holiday was approximately 70 miles south of Pensacola, Fla., a guest was suspected to have gone overboard after another guest reported hearing a splash sound in the water to a crewmember.

The ship’s command was notified and immediately began search and rescue operations returning the vessel to location where the overboard was presumed to have occurred and lowering lifeboats to search for the missing individual. A cabin-by-cabin check was conducted which confirmed a missing female guest. All appropriate authorities, including the U.S. Coast Guard, were notified. The search for the missing individual is ongoing.

The Holiday, which operates year-round from Mobile, Ala., is currently on a five-day cruise that departed Monday, June 15, and is expected to return on Saturday, June 20.

Carnival is currently providing support to the family of the missing guest during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with this individual and their family and friends.
