EasyCruise recently began its summer program in the Greek islands sailing out of Piraeus and Kusadasi, as opposed to Piraeus and Bodrum, which it had originally announced. The line was also not scheduled to begin sailing until early June.

“Greater demand for three- and four-day cruises” was the driving force behind the decision to sail earlier, said Paul Ellerby, sales and marketing director for the UK and the U.S. “Years ago there were more operators doing this type of itinerary (Greek islands), but now it’s just us and Louis (Cruise Lines). And we offer a different type of product.”

The 540-passenger easyCruise Life will be making calls at Mykonos, Patmos, Rhodes, Heraklion and Santorini through October 26.

As for winter 2009-2010, plans are expected to be announced sometime in June, Ellerby said, however he pointed out that “we will not be doing Classical Greece” as was the case this past winter.
