First Appearance of AIDAluna

On 13 February 2009, the new 69,200-gt club ship of the cruise company AIDA Cruises left the building dock of the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg / Germany. In the late afternoon, AIDAluna made her first appearance and breathed fresh air for the first time. On Saturday 14 February, at 8.30 am, the ship was then moved in front of the harbour lock, so that a couple of tests could be performed. The undocking of the ship and the performed tests ran absolutely smoothly.

On the fitting-out-pier of the Meyer shipyard the remaining works on the ship will be finished. The Ems passage to Emden will be on 21 February 2009. The AIDAluna will finally leave Papenburg for the sea trials. Delivery of the new vessel will be on 16 March. On 22 March, AIDAluna starts on her maiden voyage from Hamburg to Palma de Majorca, where the ship will be christened by top model Franziska Knuppe on 4 April.

The ship will cruise in the Baltic Sea during summer and in the Canaries in winter.
