River Cruise Roundup: New Itineraries, New Ships

AmaWaterways has announced two new medieval-themed seven-day itineraries, Treasures of the Main & Rhine and Vineyards of the Rhine & Moselle, and expansion of its fleet in 2020 with AmaSiena.

Treasures of the Main & Rhine cruise starts in Nuremberg, Germany, and includes port calls in Wurzburg, Rudesheim and Cologne. Passengers visit castles, cathedrals, town halls and taverns before disembarking in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Vineyards of the Rhine & Moselle cruise starts in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and includes port calls in Cologne, Rudesheim, Mainz and Cochem. Passengers hike or bike to castles, old towns, a vineyard, a mustard mill and a winery before disembarking in Luxembourg.

The AmaSiena is a 135-meter-long river cruise ship with 78 staterooms that can host 156 passengers. The ship also has a sun-deck pool with a swim-up bar and a complimentary fleet of bikes for excursions.

Emerald Waterways has announced river cruise deals for 2020, with passengers on European and Dalmatian coast cruises receiving up to $1,240 in savings per couple.

Passengers who book a balcony suite on a European cruise will also receive unlimited free drinks while onboard, according to a press release.

The Blue Danube launches on October 14 and features a combined seven hours of walking to Saint Orban chapel, a 19th century observation tower and Mondsee Basilica. The excursion is priced at $39 per person.

The excursion is priced at $49 per person.

AmaWaterways has offered $1,000 savings on select November and December holiday cruises booked between June 25 and August 31.

“The holiday season in Europe is one of my favorite times to travel, and I’m excited to have these offers that encourage others to experience this special time of year,” said Kristin Karst, co-owner and executive vice president of AmaWaterways.

The offer is valid on 38 cruises along the Danube and Rhine departing between November 22 and December 30, 2019.
