River Cruise Roundup: Ama, Nicko, Crystal

AmaWaterways has announced its 2020 Amenity Program, where passengers receive a $300 onboard credit per stateroom or $150 per person for solo travelers. The offer is valid on new bookings for 2020 from June 25, 2019 through the sailing date and can be combined with current promotions. Onboard credits can be applied to all onboard purchases, gratuities, gift shop, optional tours, hair and massage services.

AmaWaterways has also partnered with Caymus Vineyards for a sailing on the new AmaMagna. The seven night cruise along the Danube from Budapest, Hungary, includes port calls in Austria and Germany, a wine-tasting visit to Schloss Gobelsburg and tour of Greinburg Castle.

“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to collaborate with esteemed wineries such as Caymus Vineyards,” said Rudi Schreiner, president and co-founder of AmaWaterways. “Whether they are seasoned wine experts or just beginning to discover the nuances of a great vintage, our guests are treated to an unforgettable river cruise experience highlighting both Europe’s Old World palate and North American New World taste.”

Nicko Spirit

For 2020, Nicko Cruises is offering new ships, more capacity and an even greater river route variety, with 30 ships on 27 waterways in 25 countries.

The nickoSPIRIT is a brand new, five-star, 110 meter-long ship with three restaurants and 14-square-meter cabins. Homeporting in Frankfurt, nickoSPIRIT will sail five new routes on Rhein, Main and Moselle, including 11-day wine and leisure cruises in cooperation with gourmet magazine Falstaff.

“It’s a special experience to go beyond mass tourism to discover regions with overwhelming nature, exciting history, rich culture and interesting attractions,” said Guido Laukamp, executive director of nicko cruises.

Among other highlights, the company will offer eight-day voyages from Suttgart on four vessels, and round trip cruises from Berlin with calls in Stettin and Stralsund.

The nickoVISION and nickoSPIRIT will make round trips on Main with port calls in Regensburg, Bamberg, Wurzburg and Frankfurt.

Broadway star Rachel York will sing on the Crystal Ravel during its seven-day voyage along the Danube. The roundtrip cruise from Vienna, Austria departs on September 1, 2019, and includes port calls in Hungary and Slovakia. Fares begin at $3,499 per person when booked before June 30, 2019.
