Brodosplit and Fincantieri Align for Uljanik Takeover Bid

Brodosplit and Fincantieri have put together a joint bid to takeover and restructure the financially troubled Uljanik shipyard in Croatia, according to news reports.

“We can confirm that Brodosplit, in partnership with the Fincantieri Group, submitted a bid for the restructuring of the Uljanik Group,” Brodosplit said in a statement reported in local Croatian media.

Offer terms were not released.

Uljanik had fallen into financial turmoil recently, leading to missed payroll, worker strikes and delayed projects, including the Scenic Eclipse, a six-star 228-guest cruise ship due for an April 2019 delivery, later than its previously announced August 2018 debut.

According to Total Croatia News, citing unofficial sources, Scenic has also put in a bid to takeover the shipyard.
