Mein Schiff 2 Makes Maiden Call in Hamburg

The new Mein Schiff 2 has made her maiden arrival at the Steinwerder Cruise Terminal in Hamburg with Captain Kjell Holm at the helm.

Holm said in a prepared statement from TUI Cruises that this marked his last call in Hamburg as he is retiring this summer. He has previously made eight maiden calls for TUI ships in Hamburg.

TUI took over the new Mein Schiff 2 on Tuesday, putting its sixth new building into service in six years.

The Mein Schiff 2 starts a 12-day inaugural voyage from Bremerhaven on Feb. 3, calling at in La Coruna and Leixoes, before her christening in Lisbon. The cruise then continues to Cadiz, Arrecife and Las Palmas.

For the rest of the winter, Mein Schiff 2 will sail two alternating itineraries from Las Palmas, calling at Madeira, La Gomera, La Palma and Tenerife, or Madeira, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Tenerife.

During the summer, she will be sailing from Palma de Mallorca on various itineraries in the Western Mediterranean before heading to the Caribbean in October where she will be sailing from Bridgetown and La Romana. She is slated to return to the Western Mediterranean in April 2020.
