2008 CruisePhilly Season Closes With Repositioning Cruise To The Southern Caribbean

Summer sunshine will lighten grey November skies this year, as CruisePhilly wraps up its 2008 season with a 14-day repositioning cruise to the Southern Caribbean aboard the Norwegian Majesty. On November 1, the ship will sail to Nassau, Aruba, Curacao, St. Thomas, Samana, and Norwegian Cruise Line’s exclusive Bahama island Great Stirrup Cay, before ending the cruise in Charleston, S.C., the winter home for the ship.

CruisePhilly had a successful 2008 season, cruising to Bermuda, Canada and the Southern Caribbean aboard the Norwegian Majesty. 2008 was the first year the Norwegian Majesty made Philadelphia its home. The luxurious ship will return next August for the kick-off of the 2009 CruisePhilly season. The cruising schedule will be formally released following the last sail to the Caribbean.

“Norwegian Cruise Line’s commitment to CruisePhilly for the past six years has had a large impact on the success of the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal” said John J. Matheussen, CEO of the DRPA, the parent agency of the Port of Philadelphia and Camden. “We’re pleased the Norwegian Majesty will be returning in 2009 with more sailings for regional residents.”

“As the 2008 cruising season comes to an end, we look ahead in anticipation for the 2009 season,” said Mike Venuto, Director of the Port of Philadelphia and Camden. “We’re confident that travelers will be very pleased with the pricing, packaging and destination options available to them in 2009.”

The Philadelphia Cruise Terminal is operated by the Port of Philadelphia and Camden, a department of the Delaware River Port Authority. DRPA also owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross bridges, PATCO and the RiverLink Ferry.
