Ports America has announced the appointments of Donald Rupert, Steven Trombley and Peter Dunton.
Donald Rupert, now VP of sales and marketing, previously served as regional marketing director of sales and marketing. Domiciled in the New Jersey headquarters, Rupert was instrumental in establishing new business relationships for Ports America since 2003. He began his maritime industry career 30 years ago, having worked as North America owners’ representative for Singapore PACC Container Lines; president of Hoegh Lines Agencies; VP and line manager for U.S. Navigation and F.W. Hartmann; and in operations for Hansa Line and Maher Terminals.
Steven Trombley has been appointed to the position of VP of West Basin Container Terminal (WBCT) in Los Angeles. WBCT is a joint venture between China Shipping Container Line, Yang Ming Line and Ports America. Trombley joined Ports America this year from Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), where he served as director of port operations. Prior to NCL, he worked as director of operations and terminal logistics for APL and as operations manager for Sealand Services.
Peter Dunton has been promoted from the position of general manager of WBCT to VP of container operations for Seaside Transportation Services Terminal (STS) in Los Angeles and Oakland, which is joint venture between Ports America and Evergreen, and for Pierce County Terminal (PCT) in Tacoma. Dunton began his 18-year maritime career with Marine Terminals Corp. in 1991. He will be in Ports America’s San Pedro, Calif., office, where he will direct the business activities of the STS sites and PCT; as well as develop and build the operations organization processes and procedures to support strategic direction.
Ports America Chief People Officer Art Reimers commented on the promotions.
“These promotions recognize and demonstrate the breadth of Ports America’s talented and experienced management team,” Reimers said. “Rupert’s experience and knowledge of the industry, along with his understanding of the need of our customers were vital in attracting new business and expanding current opportunities. The promotions of Trombley and Dunton will also strengthen our joint venture relationships and their customer support and growth.”
