Ships docked in Quebec City
Québec City has announced its first ever Cruise Month, which will kick off September 16, 2017 and run through October 16. 

Québec’s Cruise Month will celebrate a booming cruise industry in the region, according to a statement.

The Port of Québec is poised to have a record-breaking year with a substantial increase in passengers, boosting numbers to new highs. The Port forecasts a nearly 30 percent increase over the 2016 season, an upsurge that could bring the Port to an all-time high of 200,000 visitors.

Cruise Month is the collaboration of the city government, tourism and port officials.

A variety of events and activities are planned to showcase local businesses, arts, and culture of the historic, yet vibrant and dynamic, city of Québec.

During this time, five ships will be making maiden calls to Québec including Ponant Soleil on September 20, Viking Sky on September 22, Silver Muse on September 29, Viking Sea on September 20, and Norwegian Jade on October 11.

Key activities:

Passages Insolites (June 29 to October 15) – Pop-up public art installations are displayed throughout the Old Port district, Quartier Petit Champlain and Place Royale.Festival de Cinema de la Ville de Québec (September 13 – 23) - This annual event offers premiers and screenigs of films from all over the world at various venues around the city. 

Cuisinez St-Roch (September 15 - 17) - Local shopkeepers showase the diversity and originality of local and imported shops with tastings and demonstrations during this outdoor food festival. 

The Night of the Gallery (September 16) - Attendees can stroll through the  streets of Quartier Petit Champlain, with a glass of wine in hand. During the evening 35 art galleries and artisan’s shop will stay open late and 29 top restaurants, including Laurie Raphael, Panache and Restaurant Initial will provide elevated fare.

Journées de la Culture (September 29 – October 1) - Complimentary access to top museums and activities. Nearly 10,000 artists, craftspeople and organizations will offer free activities for guests to discover the arts and culture of the area

Limoilou en Famille (September 17) – Family-focused performances of traditional and humorous songs along with circus activities, cheerleading demonstrations, Zumba workshops and more.
