Bar Harbor Residents Vote in Favor of Cruise

Bar Harbor residents have voted in favor of expanding their cruise business, voting for the concept of turning a unused ferry terminal into a dedicated cruise ship berth during a Tuesday vote.

According to WDEA AM, Question 12 passed by a margin of 945 to 658 and Question 13, the Citizen Initiative, failed by a margin of 918 to 679.

The vote was a central issue in Bar Harbor.

Article 12 will allow for a zoning change to turn the ferry terminal into a new facility for cruise ships.

Article 13, which did not pass, would have prohibited large vessels to berth and would have called for residents vote at a subsequent meeting on whether to set a daily limit on cruise ship visitors.
