Carnival Names Senior Officers for Horizon

Carnival Cruise Line on Tuesday announced its senior officer team for the launched of the new Carnival Horizon in 2018. The ship, currently under construction at Fincantieri, will be under the command of Captain Luigi De Angelis, a 22-year veteran of the Miami-based company that joined as a deck cadet aboard the Carnival Imagination in 1995.

During his Carnival career, De Angelis has been part of the start-up teams of five ships and most recently served as master of the line’s newest ship, Carnival Vista, during its inaugural season in Miami.

The Chief Engineer will be Rosario Capilli, who joined Carnival in 1990 following a career aboard cargo and tanker vessels. He has been a chief engineer on a variety of Carnival ships since 2002.

Heading up the hotel department will be Pierre B. Camillieri, a 13-year company veteran. Camilleri joined the company as hotel director after managing hotel and resort properties in his native Malta, as well as North Africa, Italy and China. He has served as hotel director on several Carnival ships and traveled to Italy to be a part of the inaugural teams for the line’s two most recent newbuilds – Carnival Breeze and Carnival Vista.

The ship debuts for its inaugural voyage, from Barcelona, on April 2, 2018.
