Galveston To Host Community Open House

In an effort to engage the community, the Port of Galveston is inviting the public to meet and mingle with members of the port and several port businesses at its community open house on Friday, June 9. The event will take place in Cruise Terminal 2.

The community open house will give the public an opportunity to not only tour the one year old facility but also to learn about cruise operations at the port. There will be staff on-hand to give tours of the cruise terminal and answer questions about the facility.

In June 2016, the port completed a 60,000 square foot expansion to the building that serves Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas and the Carnival Valor. Since Cruise Terminal 2 was expanded, 565,302 passengers have embarked on and disembarked from ships at the terminal.

In addition to tours of the building, several port tenants will have exhibits showcasing their businesses and operations in the port. Members of the community will be able to browse exhibits about port operations, meet various maritime professionals and learn about the wide variety of cargoes moving across the Port of Galveston’s wharves.

The event will be held from 2 pm to 8 pm in Cruise Terminal 2 located at 2702 Harborside Drive, Galveston. Admission is free.

The Port will be providing free parking for guests in front of cruise terminal 2. There will be several Port of Galveston police officers directing traffic.
