Quebec Adds Berthing Options With Agreement to Operate Quai Paquet

Citing a record season, Quebec City has announced an agreement to provide additional cruise berthing options at the Quai Paquet.

The agreement with the Ville de Lévis for use of the Quai Paquet offers the opportunity to accommodate more vessels, giving cruise lines a variety of berthing options, according to a statement.

The Quai Paquet, located within port territory and run by Québec Port Authority, is a short ferry ride away on the other side of the St. Lawrence River, with spectacular views of the iconic Chateau Frontenac.

The first ship to call at the wharf is the Saga Sapphire on October 1, 2017.

“We are thrilled to announce this agreement with the Ville de Lévis as we continue to develop the Port of Québec to make cruising Canada–New England a leading international attraction,” said Mario Girard, president and CEO of the Québec Port Authority. “With the start of our cruise season in early May and the recent announcement of Disney calling at Québec, we are confident we will continue to reach record-breaking visitor numbers.”

The 2017 cruise season promises to be the best in the Port of Québec’s history, with a record 131 calls by 34 separate cruise ships from 25 different lines—five more ships than in 2015, the city’s best year on record, according to a statement.

Five ships will be visiting the Port of Québec for the first time in 2017: Le Soléal ,Viking Sky , Viking Sea ,Silver Muse and Norwegian Jade.
