Vesteralen Targeting Year-Round Calls

Sortland-Vesteralen is actively targeting year-round cruise ship calls.

The Norwegian region of Vesteralen is also known as the kingdom of whales, and offers the midnight sun during the summer.

“Vesteralen already has several calls in the winter, due to targeting the cruise lines,” said Kjetil Paulsen, market and product consultant for Visit Vesteralen. “Together with Visit Vesteralen and Discover Vesteraen, Sortland is actively working for year-round calls.”

Among new callers is the AIDAluna, as AIDA has calls spread throughout the season.

“We work closely with the destination company Visit Vesteralen, and Discover Vesteralen, which offers shorex. There is a big focus on having new offerings on shorex annually,” added Paulsen.

“We want growth in the summer, with spring and autumn as a shoulder season. Most of our offering are available year-round.”
