Baie-Comeau will be among three Quebec stops for Disney Cruise Line in autumn 2018.
According to a press release, on September 25 and 30, 2018, the Disney Magic will drop anchor in Baie-Comeau harbor.
“Our team, along with everyone in the extended Cruise the Saint Lawrence Association family, has been working hard over the past several years to bring the cruise lines to Baie-Comeau. Those efforts are now bearing fruit and increasingly earning the recognition of our industry peers,” said Reina Savoie, president, Baie-Comeau Cruises. “Northern destinations are exotic and their appeal to tourists is constantly growing. And with our high-quality hospitality, security protocols and tourist attractions, our friendly community, and our beautiful wilderness, it’s a perfect package."
“The relationship with Disney Cruise Line is a real mark of confidence for our port of call member organizations, who place great importance on providing quality experiences to cruise passengers,” said Tony Boemi, president of Cruise the Saint Lawrence “It also shows that our destination appeals to a young and family-oriented clientele.”
Marc Lefebvre, president of the Baie-Comeau Harbor Management Corporation, said “You know, my friend Marcel Furlong and his team at ID Manicouagan are making huge efforts to diversify the regional economy. Today, Baie-Comeau Cruises is proving that it can be done, if you have enough conviction and put in the work. Because make no mistake, tourism is a major economic driver that contributes significantly to Quebec's gross domestic income. We’re happy to confirm that our development plan will include a wharf specifically dedicated to tourism, which is also set to give the residents of our city access to the river again."
