Cruise Lines Q1 2017: Royal Caribbean Outperforms Rivals

Cruise Industry News takes a look at the financial performance of the “big three” following the first quarter of 2017.

Takeaways:

Royal Caribbean Cruises posted the best performance of the three companies with the highest net income per passenger day.

Carnival Corporation also noted a healthy increase in net income per passenger day, with small gains on ticket and onboard revenue.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings saw a bit of surprise, with less passengers carried in Q1 year-over-year combined with higher costs leading to a decline in net income.

After years of dropping, fuel expenses are again on the rise, and could drag down future earnings.
