SkySea Cruise Line has announced that the SkySea Golden Era will introduce what it calls a newly enhanced “social network at sea” for all guests, which, it said, is especially important in the Chinese market.
Marking it second anniversary, SkySea will launch its updated high-speed Wi-Fi in May. According to the cruise line, internet speeds will be 10 times faster while costs to guests will be significantly reduced.
Thus, guests will be able to keep up with news, stay on WeChat at all times and even watch live programming on their mobile devices.
With faster speed comes lower prices, including an unlimited Wi-Fi package for the entire cruise at a cost of $6 USD per day. For the month of May, there will be a second anniversary promotion for $15 USD per voyage (5 days and 4 nights).
Also onboard, SkySea said it is developing its App offering guests multiple functions such as free instant messaging, real-time information, self-service billing and more.
Research has shown that each guest typically sends 30 messages and makes seven voice calls while onboard the Golden Era.
The self-service billing function allows guests to track every expense onboard and avoid waiting in line to make payment on the last day, SkySea stated.
So far, more than 60 percent of the guests have downloaded the App.
Next, the cruise line said it plans to develop functions for the app, including online ordering of beverage packages and duty-free goods, and online check in.
