Star Announces Ship Redeployment Plan of Asian Fleet for Winter Season

Star Cruises, the Leading Cruise Line in Asia-Pacific, announces the winter season itinerary to see the third phase of the seasonal redeployment plan of the Asian fleet.

SuperStar Virgo, the largest cruise ship in Asia, currently homeports in Hong Kong, will return to Singapore and offer enchanting Straits of Malacca and Andaman Sea cruises from 24 October 2008 onwards. The long-awaited 2-night Redang cruise will be re-launched from April to September next year.

SuperStar Aquarius will leave Singapore for Hong Kong on 24 October 2008 to start her winter cruise season comprising of 4-night Hainan Island / Vietnam cruises and 1-night getaway cruise in South China Sea. Apart from the popular 4-night Sanya / Halong Bay cruises, the ship will also call on Danang, the fourth largest city in Vietnam with beautiful long beaches and fascinating cultural & historical sights.

SuperStar Libra, offering Taiwan and Japan cruises in the current summer season, will also see her first deployment to Port Klang and Singapore from 8 November 2008. Cruisers can enjoy easy and convenient embarkation and disembarkation in Port Klang for the 3-night Penang and Singapore or Langkawi and Singapore or 4-night Phuket and Singapore cruises.

To bring greater variety and broaden the appeal and experience of cruising to our guests in the region, Star Cruises has commenced a series of strategic fleet deployment that will see its vessels call at different ports and destinations. Since last June, the successful deployment of SuperStar Virgo, SuperStar Aquarius and SuperStar Libra were well received by cruise vacationers from Asia as well as from Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

Mr. William Ng, Executive Director of Star Cruises said, “The different phases of fleet redeployment enable our guests to enjoy a greater variety of cruising experience. The 7.1% growth in group’s revenue for first half year of 2008 when compared to last year has proven the success. What excites us more is that the redeployment has not only stimulated the demand of FIT cruisers and repeat business, but also boosted the sales of incentive groups in the region. In June this year, over 2,000 Indian visitors including a group of 1,000 yogis and an incentive group of over 1,000 top achievers flew in to join SuperStar Virgo to cruise from Hong Kong. We are also expecting another group of 4,000 from Beijing for a 3-night cruise on SuperStar Virgo in October which will be the largest incentive group we have ever received.”
