Change of Plans for Aloha Pacific

Aloha Pacific Cruises has announced that the maiden voyage of the Monterey will begin on August 21, 1988 with a special two-day celebration for passengers in Washington, D.C. The ship will depart from Baltimore August 23 and arrive in San Francisco September 15.

The original maiden voyage was to have begun in Copenhagen, but plans were changed when delivery of stabilizers was delayed. The ship will be delivered form Wartsila Shipyards as scheduled on July 20 (1988), and the Sperry Finn stabilizers will be installed at an East Coast yard.

The ship has undergone a $45 refurbishment beginning at Portland, Oregon and Tacoma, Washington, and is being completed in Finland.
