Cape Canaveral Expands

Cape Canaveral has announced a $1.2 million four-part expansion plan. Currently in the bidding process, the plan includes the addition of a 400-space parking lot, a baggage handling facility, maintenance/operations building, and development of a second recreational park.

Construction is scheduled to begin May 2. All four projects contained in the plan will be completed by November 1, 1988.

The port handled almost 730,000 passengers in 1987, making it the third-largest volume cruise passenger port in the U.S.
