Commodore: Bolt Redeployment

Commodore Cruise Line is taking some bold steps in the redeployment of its fleet.

The cruise line recently announced that the 736-passenger Enchanted Seas will be sailing seven day cruises year-round from New Orleans to the Western Caribbean. Ports-of-call will include Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Playa del Carmen/Cozumel or Key West and Playa del Carmen/Cozumel. 1991/92 fares range from $895 to $1,745 per person, double occupancy, including airfare from most major gateways.

New Orleans has largely been a seasonal port and has not seen much cruise business since the Ocean Spirit moved out after a brief, unsuccessful stay, offering diving cruises in 1989.

Ove Nordquist, CEO and President of Commodore, said he believed New Orleans is such a unique and exciting city that it has become almost like an additional port-of-call on the Western Caribbean itinerary. “By offering attractive pre- or post-cruise packages, we give passengers an opportunity to spend extra time in New Orleans to experience everything the city has to offer,” Nordquist said.

Commodore has also said that it will operate the Crown Monarch of Crown Cruise Line in New England/Canada in the fall of 1992. The Caribe I will continue to sail seven-day cruises from Miami alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. However, the ship will be sailing three cruises to the Western Caribbean for every one to the Eastern Caribbean. The Enchanted Isle will continue to sail its winter program from San Diego and its summer program of New England/Canada cruises from New York.
