Commodore and Crown Joint Venture

Effjohn International, parent company to Commodore Cruise Line, and Palm Beach-based Grundstad maritime Overseas, has signed a preliminary agreement proposing a joint venture in the operation of Crown Cruise Line and its new ship, the 556-passenger Crown Monarch.

Under the agreement, Commodore will provide marketing and sales management for the Crown Monarch, which will continue to sail seven day cruises from the Port of Palm Beach with no changes in itinerary or onboard services. Reservations will also continue to be handled by the current Crown Cruise Line staff.

The agreement also includes use by Commodore ships of Labadie Shores, an exclusive out-island developed by Crown Cruise Line and located on the North Coast of Haiti.

Oddmund Grundstad, President and CEO of Grundstad Maritime Overseas and Crown Cruise Line, said that Effjohn becomes an investor in the Crown Monarch. Grundstad also hinted that Commodore may put one or both of its new ships in the Port of Palm Beach. He noted that the port can handle three ships on any one day, or six on a weekend basis, and added that further expansion and upgrading of terminal facilities was planned.
