Club Med to Exit?

According to sources, Club Med is looking to exit the cruise business. It is believed that the two ships may go to Radisson Seven Seas which will also be introducing the Paul Gauguin in 1997.

The 16.000-ton, 320-passenger Paul Gauguin, which is under construction, is owned by Services et Transports, which also owns the Club Med 1 and Club Med 2.

Club Med may also have been struggling to fill its two 376-passenger sail-assisted ships since they were introduced in 1990 and 1992. and the recent French nuclear tests in the Pacific put a damper on the company’s market support in Japan and Australia. according to Michael Ellis, General Manager of Club Med’s Paris-based cruise division.
