Canyon Ranch to Enter Cruise Market

Spa operator Canyon Ranch is pushing forward again with its plan to enter the cruise market. According to Director of New Project Development Gary Milner, RFPs were sent to eight European yards on June 15, requesting prices and timetables for the construction of two 35,000-ton, 380-passenger spa ships for the new venture, to be called Canyon Ranch at Sea. Rolls Royce Marine has been brought aboard as marine architect, and financing is being arranged through the representation of Norwegian investment bank Moe Securities. “We’d like to get the first ship in the water in 2003,” Milner said, with a decision on the yard due this fall.
