Viking Delays Mississippi Entry

Viking River Cruises is delaying its entry to the Mississippi River market by at least a year.

In 2015, Viking had announced two newbuilds for the Mississippi to debut in 2017, to be followed by four more.

Now, it appears the plan is on hold until at least 2018. Viking provided the following statement:

At this point in time, we do not have any details to share, but we are actively working with relevant authorities to launch on the Mississippi River, with a projected maiden season that has been adjusted to 2018 in order to accommodate an updated timeline.

Tennenbaum Capital Partners, which is financing the project, did not respond to a request for comment.
