AMCV 1999 Earnings

American Classic Voyages (AMCV) has reported a net loss of $1.8 million, or $0.10 per share, on revenues of $208.7 million for the year ended Dec. 31, 1999, compared to net income of $157,000, or $0.01 per share, on revenues of $192.2 million for the year ended Dec. 31, 1998.

Included in the results are so-called capacity expansion costs of $4.6 million in 1999 and $2.3 million in 1998.

For the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 1999, AMCV reported a net loss of $33,000 on revenues of $55.5 million, compared to net income of $1.5 million or $0.10 per share, on revenues of $47.1 million for the fourth quarter of 1998. For the first nine months of 2000, AMCV reported that American Hawaii Cruises is 96 percent booked at a gross rate of $218 per passenger night and that The Delta Queen Steam Boat Company is 73 percent booked at a gross rate of $300 per night. For the same period a year ago, American Hawaii was 91 percent booked at $199 per night and Delta Queen was 69 percent booked at $285 per night.
