2016 Capacity: Caribbean Up Slightly, Mediterranean Down

Full year capacity (Jan. 1 – Dec. 31) will climb in 2016 for the Caribbean market, according to the 2016-2017 Cruise Industry News Annual Report, but will not surpass the previous record-setting passenger mark from 2014.

Carnival Cruise Line remains the largest Caribbean operator, with 36 percent of the market, followed by Royal Caribbean International with 24.5 percent, and Norwegian Cruise Line with 11.8 percent.

Across the Atlantic, geopolitical issues are impacting the Mediterranean market, which will be down 4 percent year-over-year in passenger capacity estimated by Cruise Industry News.
