RCL Pod Suit Moves Ahead

Royal Caribbean Cruises’ $300 million lawsuit against Alstom and Rolls-Royce, filed in 2003 because of recurring problems with the Mermaid pod systems onboard its Celebrity Cruises ships, has been remanded from federal court back to state court in Miami, Florida, where the suit was originally filed, said George Fowler, an attorney for Royal Caribbean with the firm Fowler Rodriguez & Chalos.

A separate federal lawsuit filed by Alstom and Rolls-Royce to send the case to arbitration in Europe has also been dismissed, Fowler said.
