Chef RashidiSailing from Malaysia this summer, Star Cruises has rolled out a number of new culinary offerings on the SuperStar Libra.

“Our homeport in Penang, Malaysia, is a melting pot of cultures and has one of the most diverse food offerings, making it the ultimate food paradise. Hence, we are bringing the flavors of the food paradise with us onboard the SuperStar Libra for all of our guests to enjoy,” said Ang Moo Lim, executive vice president, sales, marketing and hotels of Genting Hong Kong, in a prepared statement.

Star has been sending its chefs to competition after competition, where they have not only taken home prizes, but also delivered brand recognition and marketing for the cruise line.

In Spices Restaurant on Deck 10 a favorite dish is the Nasi Putih dengan Ulam-Ulam dan Sambal Belacan, which consists of white rice served with ulam-ulam, which is the equivalent of salad together with sambal belacan, the national condiment of Malaysia.

There are also more unique menu items: Ayam Percik Seri Menanti (Sri Menanti Grilled Chicken) and Udang Galah Kuzi (an exotic dish from north Malaysia given a special variation using big head prawns) prepared exclusively by Sous Chef Rashidi bin Mohd.
