VIKAND Hires Axel Flinder as Director of Business Development

VIKAND has announced the appointment of Axel Flinder as the Director of Business Development.

Axel is based in Oslo, Norway and will represent VIKAND’s growing operations in Norway and Northern Europe at large.

“Axel brings a vast maritime knowledge and an impressive network to the VIKAND team”, said Peter Hult, President. “His deep understanding of the maritime industry will help us to further develop specific medical solutions that will augment our existing service portfolio. VIKAND continues to address the fragmentation of medical services within the global maritime industry and Axel is perfectly positioned to support this.”

Axel will be responsible for developing VIKAND’s client base, identifying medical services needs and working with clients and industry associations to define ways VIKAND can cultivate new innovative solutions. He will be VIKAND’s representative in the Northern European market working within all sectors of the maritime industry, from Off-Shore and Energy to Commercial shipping and the Cruise and Ferry industry.

Axel is an experienced shipbroker who started his professional career in 1981 as a broker for Fearnleys in Oslo, Norway. He has held positions as general manager at Grieg Shipbrokers in Oslo, CEO for Sundbusserne in Helsingor, Denmark, and for the last four years held the position as sales manager for Wilhelmsen Ship Management, responsible for Scandinavia as well as Europe.

“I am excited and thrilled to join VIKAND. They have continued to develop new medical services to address a need in the maritime industry. From my own experience I know that medical and medical related issues always have been a concern for owners and operators”, said Axel.

In his spare time Axel enjoys skiing and hunting. In fact he funded his college education as a ski instructor in both Park City, Utah and Norway as well as a trainer of hunting dogs in Norway.
