At 132,500 gross tons, more than 300 meters (984 feet) long, 37 meters (121 feet) wide and 1,862 guest cabins, Costa Diadema entailed a total investment of 550 million euro (US$694 million). The project involved approximately 1,000 shipyard workers plus another 2,500 subcontractors and about 400 contracted suppliers, most of which are Italian firms, engaged for the fitting-out of the interiors of the cruise ship.
The Costa Diadema left Marghera shipyard to reach Trieste, which will be the first port to welcome Costa Diadema on October 31. It will be an occasion of celebration for the whole city, with the party organized on the ship and the fireworks that will shine above the beautiful setting of Trieste in the night.
Trieste will be also the departure port of the first cruise of Costa Diadema, the "Vernissage cruise", starting on November 1, with calls at Dubrovnik, Corfù, Malta, Naples, to end on November 7 in Genoa, where the Christening event will take place.
