Zhoushan in Zhejiang province, located in the East China Sea, is the only archipelago city in China. It is a marine hub city connecting the Yangtze River and the Pacific Ocean and is known for its Putuo Island, one of China’s four most well-known Buddhist sanctums.
Zhoushan International Cruise Terminal opened in October and is expected to be a departure point for cruises to Taiwan.
The terminal, to be built in two phases, is estimated to cost $101 million, with a berth capable of handling ships up to 100,000 tons.
Zhoushan will be one of many Chinese ports at the upcoming China cruise trade show.
