San Diego: Disney and Broadway Pier Enhancements

Ten cruise lines make calls in San Diego including Disney – the newest addition – Carnival, Celebrity, Crystal, Holland America, Norwegian, Regent Seven Seas, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Silversea. Each year, about 75 cruise ships dock in San Diego Bay.

Disney Cruise Lines will begin offering three and five-day cruises from San Diego to Ensenada and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico beginning May 17, 2015 aboard the Disney Wonder ocean liner. Four Mexico cruises are also scheduled for October 2015. In addition, Disney offers a two-night weekend getaway off the San Diego coast (May 15, 2015) and five-night San Diego to Vancouver, Canada cruise (May 20, 2015).

Enhancements to the Broadway Pier, site of the Port Pavilion cruise ship terminal, are underway to make it more inviting to the public. Features include new moveable furniture, shade structures and decorative elements, including a historical Port timeline created on engraved brass plates. The project is expected to be completed by August 2014.

The pier is open to the public on days when no cruise ships are berthed there. The enhancements will encourage visitors to walk out onto the pier, explore, relax and enjoy panoramic views of San Diego Bay.
