The Blue Dolphin Exercise has come to a successful conclusion in Singapore, with a fire being simulated on a cruise ship, involving multiple local agencies and a Star Cruises vessel.
The full-day program “featured” a fire breaking out on a ship sailing into Singapore, with the goal of testing out agencies and procedures in place.
Agencies involved, including the Singapore Armed Forces, Civil Defense Force, and Coast Guard spent more than a year planning the project with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore leading the way.
As the fire broke out, around 30 vessels were able to respond within the hour of a simulated distress call being broadcast.
Over 1,000 people participated, from various local agencies to volunteers that played hurt and evacuated passengers.
