Project Team Meets for BVI Cruise Pier Development Kick-Off

The project team for the marine aspect of the BVI Cruise Pier Development met yesterday for the official project kick-off.

The marine aspect of the cruise pier project involves the strengthening, lengthening and widening of the cruise pier, installation of sheet piles, development of a boardwalk facility and new reclaimed land.

According to Managing Director of the BVIPA Mr. Claude O. Skelton Cline, the kick-off meeting signals that the cruise pier project is moving forward according to plan. Mr. Cline also said that he is happy to have a skilled team of diligent persons who are moving swiftly to get the project done on time.

The team consists of representatives from the BVI Ports Authority, Ministry of Communications and Works, and IDL Projects and Meridian Construction Joint Venture Company Ltd.

Following the kick-off meeting, the public is invited to the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Cruise Pier Expansion Project this Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the Cruise Pier. Persons are encouraged to come out and learn more about the new development and associated benefits.

The cruise pier development is in line with the BVI Ports Authority’s vision to create a unique and modern cruise pier facility that is environmentally compatible and sustainable, that delivers a memorable and world-class experience.
