Aker Yards Cabins Strengthens its Position on the Offshore-market

Aker Yards Cabins has entered into contract with the Norwegian Leirvik Module Technology AS on the cabin delivery for offshore industry. Leirvik Module Technology will construct new living quarters for the enlargement of the Troll A platform, which is operated by the oil company StatoilHydro in the North Sea.

Aker Yards Cabins will deliver 150 modular cabins for the new living quarters. The single cabins are well-equipped and fulfil the high living and safety requirements of the Norsok regulation. The cabins will be manufactured at company’s factories in Finland during 2008, and delivered to the customer from the fall 2008 onward.

– The newly received order is our fourth cabin contract with Leirvik Module Technology, and strengthens our position also on the demanding offshore market, says Kari Ruusunen, President of Aker Yards Cabins.

The order book of the company now reaches to the beginning of 2010. In addition to offshore contracts the order book includes deliveries for two Genesis class cruise ships and two Galaxy cruise ferries to Aker Yards’ shipyards in Finland. The company will also deliver cabins for the world’s largest ropax vessels for the Swedish Stena RoRo AB to be constructed at Aker Yards,  Germany.
