Thornton Promoted to Senior VP – Marketing Planning for Carnival

Terry L. Thornton has been promoted to senior vice president of marketing planning for Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator.

In this capacity, Thornton oversees the revenue management and strategic marketing departments for the brand.  In addition, Thornton is responsible for overseeing ship deployment and itinerary planning for the cruise line’s existing 22-ship fleet, in addition to vessels under construction, which currently includes three scheduled for delivery over the next three years.

Thornton first joined Carnival in 1989 as a special projects manager in the marketing area and eventually rose to the position of vice president – marketing planning in 1992.  Thornton has worked in the cruise industry for more than 30 years, including prior marketing and finance positions with Norwegian Cruise Line, Sea Goddess and Windstar Cruises.

“Terry has made tremendous contributions to the Carnival organization over the past 19 years and he is a valued and instrumental member of the company’s management team,” said Gerry Cahill, Carnival’s president and CEO.  “His promotion is well deserved.”

Thornton holds a B.S. degree in finance from Miami University Ohio.  He resides in Pinecrest, Fla., with his wife and three children.
