SuperStar Aquarius Makes Maiden Voyage to Bintulu

SuperStar Aquarius celebrated her first call to Sarawak’s Bintulu today after her successful maiden call to Brunei’s Muara yesterday (11 November). Her homeport relocation to Kota Kinabalu also makes Star Cruises the first international cruise line to home port a ship in the capital of the state of Sabah.

Nearly 800 international passengers from Malaysia, China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia onboard the 51,309-ton SuperStar Aquarius received souvenirs and a warm welcome in a ceremony featuring local performances.

Mr. Edward Johann Leong, Vice President, East Malaysia Operations of Star Cruises said: “Today, SuperStar Aquarius celebrates her maiden call to Bintulu. It is a proud moment for us, and I am sure our international cruise passengers are more than excited to explore the extraordinary natural wonders and cultural treasures this amazing destination are so well known for. Our new 4D3N cruise departing every Sunday from Kota Kinabalu to Muara and Bintulu will give passengers holiday experience they will never forget.”

“We would also like to take this opportunity to express our utmost appreciation to each and everyone of you for making this call successful. We will continue to work closely with tourism and local authorities to bring even more international passengers to Bintulu and promote its tourism appeal to the world,” he added.

The ceremony was graced by Yang Berhormat Datuk Haji Talib Zulpilip, Assistant Minister of Tourism Sarawak and other representatives from the government, ministries and authorities. Members of the media and travel agents from Malaysia, China and Taiwan also joined the celebration.

The special guests were thrilled by the world-class performance arranged by Star Cruises. After a memento exchange ceremony held at Stardust Lounge, they were invited for a sumptuous lunch featuring Star Cruises’ celebrated international and Asian cuisines at Spices Restaurant, followed by a tour around the 13-deck luxury liner.

SuperStar Aquarius offers a 4D3N cruise from Kota Kinabalu to Muara and Bintulu every Sunday with a number of exclusive shore excursions for guests to explore. The vessel will be calling at Bintulu every Tuesday on a weekly basis, from now until 30 March 2014.
