ARINC to Provide Major IT Upgrade at Sangster Intl Airport Montego Bay

ARINC Incorporated today announced a new technology agreement with its long-time customer MBJ Airports Limited (MBJA) of Montego Bay, Jamaica. Under the agreement, ARINC will deliver a comprehensive suite of advanced passenger technologies including common-use passenger kiosks for Sangster International Airport.

ARINC’s integrated solution will support all the airline departure and arrival processes throughout the airport’s new terminal building. In a first for any major Caribbean airport, MBJA will deploy twenty ARINC SelfServTM passenger check-in kiosks for common use by passengers of all participating airlines.

“Sangster International Airport is undergoing a major renovation and expansion,” said Fernando Bosque, CEO of MBJ Airports Limited. Our relationship with ARINC over the past six years made them an excellent choice as our technology partner at this time. They understand our requirements and offer a great mix of solutions and innovation.”

The complete installation will include 150 new check-in and boarding workstations with ARINC’s flagship passenger solution iMUSETM, as well as ARINC’s LocalCheckTM local departure control system for non-hosted airlines, and the ARINC BagLinkTM airline baggage message broker.

“We are extremely pleased to continue our good relationship with MBJ Airports Ltd. and to deliver an advanced set of passenger processing tools for their airline customers at Sangster International,” stated Dale Kirby, ARINC Senior Sales and Marketing Director, Airport Solutions Division. “MBJA had some very definite requirements,” he continued. “They wanted an economical solution that retains maximum flexibility over a long period of time. By working with the MBJA engineering staff and the airline managers here, we feel that we’ve come up with a winner!”

At Sangster International Airport, ARINC’s Imuse common-use passenger technology will enable airline personnel to work efficiently and provide better service for a greater number of passengers. It will also reduce unnecessary duplication of equipment among airlines.

ARINC Airport Systems is a leader in common-use passenger technology. Its MUSE® passenger systems are found at more than 55 airports worldwide, where they are used by 260 airlines carrying more than 300 million passengers a year.
