Discounts and Free Flights From Hurtigruten

What has been called “The World’s Most Beautiful Voyage” is now being offered with several opportunities for savings.  Travelers can save up to $500 when booking select Hurtigruten’s Norwegian Coastal Voyage between March and December 2008 with those booking a southbound voyage receiving a free shore excursion – either the Lofoten or the Trondheim with Nidaros Cathedral Tour.  This discount can be combined with free trans-Atlantic air for both guests on the 12-day sailings or free companion air on the six- and seven-day itineraries for departures on select ships between Mar. 1- April 30 and Oct. 1-Dec. 15, 2008 if booked by March 15.  Or passengers can get 50% off the fare for a companion during May and September sailings.  Special four-day land packages are also being offered for use in conjunction with the cruise-only sailings at rates of $689 to $879 per person, double.

Normal cruise-only prices range from $1,299 to $9,999 per person, double.  The $500 discount reduces fares to $1,199 to $9,549 and those passengers opting for the 50% off a companion’s fare save between $850 and $4,125. Cruise-only deals are based on double occupancy; free air is for flights from New York with add-on fares offered on other gateways.

The six-, seven- and 12-day voyages, aboard a modern Hurtigruten ship, take in Norway’s spectacular fjord-filled, 1,250-mile west coast between the charming Hanseatic port of Bergen and Kirkenes, close to the Russian border.  The ships make 34 port calls on the route, ranging from fishing villages in the rugged Lofoten Islands to Art Nouveau Alesund and bustling cities like Tromso and Trondheim.  Optional shore excursions range from Midnight Sun concerts in Tromso’s Arctic Cathedral to sea safaris on the Pasvik River to the Russian border and can be booked before departure.

For guests wishing to compliment their voyage with an exploration of some of Norway’s fascinating cities, Hurtigruten is offering land packages that include two pre-cruise nights in Oslo on all sailings, two post-cruise nights in Bergen on the seven- and 12-day voyages and one night each in Bergen and Kirkenes on the six-day.  Superior first-class and first class accommodations, air or rail transfers between cities, breakfast daily, transfers and hotel taxes are included.
