Lloyd Werft Broadens Capabilities as Completion Yard

Continuing to develop its ability as a builder of specialty ships and a completion yard, the first steel–cutting has taken place on a new large, multi-function, dynamic-positioned vessel contracted to Lloyd Werft, Bremerhaven.

The steel work is taking place in the CRIST shipyard in Gdynia, where the keel will be laid in August. It is a joint, which Lloyd Werft said will allow it to further develop its strategy as a completion facility. The ship will then be completed in Bremerhaven.

The delivery of the ship to the London-based owner CEONA will take place in October 2014.
The 33,000-ton ship is 199.4 meters long, 32.2 meters wide, with a draft of 8.0 meters.

The newbuilding will not have cabins for 200 personnel, but will also have extensive stowage space below deck for pipes and connecting components. This capability guarantees owners a wide radius of operations for the vessel, which will fixed and flexible pipes on the seabed in water as deep as 3,000 meters.

A satellite-operated DP2 system will enable the CEONA AMAZON to accurately maintain position and heading.
