Bigger Royal Caribbean Ship Set for Bermuda?

The Ministry of Public Works for Bermuda will have completed upgrades on the Heritage Wharf dock before the new Norwegian Breakaway berths on May 15.

While the Breakaway will be the biggest ship to berth there, the Ministry also released a statement that noted the work was done to “accommodate new larger cruise ships proposed by Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean International.”

Royal Caribbean currently calls on Bermuda out of New Jersey with its 137,000-ton Explorer of the Seas, leaving the only bigger ships in the fleet to be the three Freedom-class ships: the Freedom, Liberty and Independence; the two Oasis-class vessels; and orders currently on the books at Meyer Werft for the new Sunshine class, and a third Oasis recently ordered from STX France.
